In May 2017 two architect friends, Eleanora Secco and Mario Rossi, invited me to tell tales in their studio in Imperia during Italian architects’ open day. So of course at least one story had to relate to building.
The audience included several children, some as young as three years old. And excellent listeners they were, too!
And thanks to Maya for her camera work!

Similar folk tales are told in much of northern Europe. More variants can be found under Master Builders and Their Supernatural Helpers.
