Death in the Nut

A tale in which Jack learns that death is not only inescapable, but also essential.
(Complete, except the first four seconds of the tale - of Jack living with his old mother.)

This tale is much associated with the great Scottish storyteller, Duncan Williamson. His written version can be found in the wonderful collection of tales, A Thorn in the King's Foot.

The recording was made as part of A Very British Evening, with Welsh storyteller David Ambrose, during the 5th Internationale Erzählkunstfestival Innsbruck in Nov. 2013.

Another recording of the same tale, on the CD Well of the World's End, was broadcast on The Apple Seed, BYU Radio, on 12th March, 2014.
