Every storyteller knows how some tales grab one, while others leave one cold. Yet those that grab, simply must be told.

I recently came across a brief skeleton of the Vietnamese tale Truong Chi and My Nuong on the Storytell listserv. Some internet research led to various versions and comparing these helped clarify what it was that made the story important to me.

A series of gigs in Nov. 2015 gave me the opportunity to include the tale in each performance, so cohering the telling into my own version. The plot is now rather different to the skeleton I saw elsewhere, but the spirit of the story, I hope, is true to the original.

More deep tales

The video gallery has become very extensive. So if you would enjoy more tales like this which explore the depths of the human psyche, here are a few suggestions.
