The Quick-tongued Princess
There are many tales with three sons, and it is always the youngest who is considered the useless one. And yet, of course, it is he who will gain the prize! (H.C. Andersen’s “Clumsy Hans” is a well-known polite version of the tale.)
This delightful Swedish version (ATU 853) is both livelier and cheekier.
It is from my translation of Per Gustavsson’s The Magic Pisspot: Swedish folk tales.
