Although I must confess that what I say on stage to introduce my stories is not always completely true, this time it is. People in Germany really do quite often tell me that I am “a perfect English gentleman”: but invariably they are people who do not know me very well and are rather vague about what being a “gentleman” means!

I read this tale in Hibernian Nights by Seumas MacManus (1963).

This recording was made in Dec. 2018 during my annual performance at halbNeun Theater, Darmstadt.
