Cat and the Dog

An Irish version of Aesop’s Tortoise and the Hare

Videos are provided free to view.

If you want to download one, I can arrange that. Just send me a mail telling me which story you’d like, and your reason for wanting a download.

This telling, part of my annual performance in halbNeun Theater, Darmstadt, was recorded on the day after the 2014 Scottish referendum on independence from the UK. So of course the tale’s geographical provenance was naturally stretched a bit.

As with many of the tales I tell, this came from the Storytell listserv. It was contributed by Barra the Bard during a thread on Aesop’s fables.

If you’d prefer a folk tale where it is the dog who is the clever one, watch The Leopard-Eating Dog.
